Jeff Luca Obituary Twinsburg, Ohio: In loving memory of Twinsburg head baseball coach killed in tragic Pennsylvania car accident.
Superintendent Kathi Powers reported the death of head high school baseball coach Jeff Luca in a letter to parents and guardians on Tuesday, sending the Twinsburg community into shock.
According to Powers, Luca died in an accident in Pennsylvania, the specifics of which have not been disclosed to the public.
Luca leaves behind his wife Jen and three children, one of whom is a sophomore at Twinsburg High School.
“Coach Luca loved his baseball team and truly enjoyed being a part of our Tiger community. Coach Luca was a wonderful person who deeply cared about his student athletes, his coaching staff, and the families he came to know over the many years he coached our team.”
A graduate of University of Akron and West Branch High School, Luca worked as a staff member at UA, John Carroll, Akron North High School, and Solon before joining the varsity staff at Twinsburg in 2006 under the famous Don Jones. Luca was elevated to succeed Jones after the latter’s retirement after the 2018 season, and during the next four seasons (the 2020 campaign was postponed due to COVID-19), he led the Tigers to a 54-41 record.
