The UFC 279 press conference, scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Las Vegas, was canceled at the last minute after multiple altercations between fighters and their teams occurred backstage moments prior. UFC president Dana White confirmed Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland initially caused the skirmish.

“There were multiple things going on back here at the same time. Once it all started erupting, it was a complete s— show,” White said in a media scrum after calling off the event. “However long I’ve been doing this, we’ve never had an incident like today. All hell broke loose. We stopped it but we didn’t do a good job of not letting it happen.”
UFC 279 will take place Saturday night in Las Vegas with Chimaev fighting Nate Diaz in the main event. Holland faces Daniel Rodriguez earlier in the night.
